How much Paternity test cost in India

  1. What is paternity Testing?
Paternity means fatherhood. Paternity is established when a paternity testing laboratory uses genetic testing methods / DNA test, to demonstrate to a legal standard, that an alleged father is the biological father. Paternity is disproved when these same methods and standards demonstrate that an alleged father is not the biological father.

  2. How accurate is DNA-Based paternity testing?
The DNA Test India method is an extremely accurate genetic testing method. It can absolutely determine if the man is not the biological father and reliably exclude him. DNA Profiling can establish that the alleged father is the child's biological father with a probability of paternity of 99% or higher.

  3. When I will get the Results?
It typically takes about 2-3 Weeks time to get the results. Our lab process all samples on first come basis. As we run every sample 3 times to give most accurate results, we request you to keep patience to get correct results. Many people every other day comes to us on doubting their results because most of the laboratories in order to make money gives results in a day or two but in that case they might be compromising with their quality issues.

  4. Are the paternity test results confidential?
Yes, DNA Test India results are strictly confidential. They are released only to the adult persons who were tested and, as requested, to their authorized agents (e.g. attorneys).

  5. What are some of the reasons DNA testing is conducted?
There are many legal and personal reasons to require DNA testing. Some of the more common include:

    • Peace of mind

    • Family medical concerns

    • Child support

    • Custody

    • Adoption

    • Citizenship/immigration

    • Inheritance/benefits ( Insurance, etc.)

    • Crime scene analysis (forensic testing)

  6. How does paternity testing work?
DNA analysis, which is a major advance in the field of paternity testing, involves the direct examination of the genetic material that a child inherited from its biological parents. DNA is located throughout the human body and in the same identical form. Thus, DNA in blood is the same as that in skin, cheek lining, muscle, bone, teeth and various other tissues. The DNA a person has is fully established at conception and remains totally constant throughout life. During the paternity testing process, the genetic characteristics of the child are first compared to those of its mother. Those characteristics in the child that cannot be found in the mother have been inherited from the biological father. If the tested man (alleged father) does not have the genetic characteristics necessary to be the biological father of the child, he is excluded. If the tested man's DNA does contain those genetic characteristics, then the probability that this man is the true biological father is calculated and reported by the laboratory.

  7. Can I do anything to alter the results of the test?
No, you can not alter the results of a test. Medication, drugs, alcohol, food, age or lifestyle can not alter the DNA pattern within an individual.

  8. How does DNA paternity testing work using a Buccal Swab?
A buccal swab is a specialized applicator which is a kind of brush. The applicator is rubbed on the inside of the cheek to collect epithelial cells. This procedure is non-invasive and painless.

  9. What kinds of samples are needed for DNA testing?
DNA Test India frequently uses a cheek swab collection (buccal swab) since it is easy to obtain, completely non-invasive, painless, and is just as accurate as blood samples. Almost any biological sample could be used since DNA is located everywhere throughout the body in the same exact form.

  10. What is the difference between a blood test and a mouth swab?
A buccal swab sample is just as accurate as a blood sample. The advantages of using buccal swab collections are that they are non-invasive, painless, quick and easy.

  11. Can hair samples be used for DNA paternity testing?
Yes. However hair samples must have the root follicle intact. For the follicle to remain intact, it generally requires the hair to be pulled directly from the scalp. If this is your preferred method of collection, please contact our Paternity Test Consultant to get additional information.

  12. How old does the child need to be for paternity determination?
There is no age limit with DNA Profiling. Children who are just a few days old can be tested using buccal swab sample collection. Newborns are readily tested by collecting blood from the umbilical cord on the day of birth. Under special circumstances, DNA paternity testing can be performed on unborn children during pregnancy by using amniotic fluids or CVS samples.

  13. Can paternity testing be done without a specimen from the mother?
Yes. We can accurately test without the mother's sample, however this may require additional analysis by the laboratory. Since one half of the child's DNA comes from the mother, we prefer to include her in the test if possible without any additional cost.

  14. Who needs to be tested?
For a paternity DNA test, the mother, the child and the alleged father. We can accurately test for paternity without the mother's sample but this requires additional analysis by our testing laboratory, we do offer without any additional cost.

  15. What if I want to test more than one child or alleged father?
If the additional child or alleged father is tested along with the other participants, the additional fee is only Rs. 6000. per person.

  16. What if the two possible fathers are related?
When possible, both men should be tested at the same time. Relatives have similar DNA patterns, but the laboratory will always perform enough tests to completely resolve the paternity issue. It is important that you inform us of the situation when you order your test.

  17. What if one of the parties lives in some other city, state, or country?
We can can coordinate and accomplish a sample collection in virtually any city in India and possibly through our collection center all over the world. Samples collected early can be stored as DNA for as long as necessary until the last required sample is collected. Since the parties involved may provide specimens at different times and/or different locations, each individual participating in the testing can be scheduled at their convenience.
  18. Where do I go to have my sample collected?
You can collect sample at home for Peace of Mind. If it is for Legal purpose than third party preferably our test center or any hospital/doctor can collect sample for you.

  19. Who gets the test results?
Report will be given to ONLY signatory person. Typically, all adults over age 18 who are tested are eligible to receive a copy of the test results. In addition on written request, individuals representing tested parties, such at attorneys, can receive a copy of the report at the request of a test participant. Let Client Services know if you have special requirements and we will work with you to meet your needs.

  20. Can I get the test done before the baby is born?
Yes, we can do prenatal testing. Prenatal testing is significantly more expensive and does involve medical risk. The mother must have an obstetrical procedure (amniocentesis) in order to obtain a sample on the fetus. Genetic Profiles will assist you with information and coordination. Our company policy don't allow us to promote Prenatal Paternity Testing until enough proves are there which says necessity of test for some legal purpose.
  21. Can testing be done if the alleged father is missing or deceased?
Yes. Other relatives, such as the alleged father's parents, can replace him in the test if necessary. At times, biological samples from a deceased person can be obtained from a hospital or the coroner's office. Please talk to our consultant and discuss about this kind cases.

  22. Do I need a doctor's order to have a paternity test performed?
No. A doctor's order is generally not required for you to have a paternity test conducted.

Genetic Testing in India

DNA Testing in the Lab

In a paternity test, buccal swab samples are collected from the child, alleged father, and mother and sent to our laboratory for testing and analysis. In the lab, the following steps are performed:

Accurate, Advanced and Easy Paternity Test
  1. DNA samples are divided for testing by two independent teams.
  2. DNA is purified from the swabs using special chemical agents.
  3. The 16 genetic locations are amplified using the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR).
    • The DNA in the swabs contains all the tested party’s genetic information. PCR takes the 16 small pieces of genetic information and makes billions of copies of each to facilitate analysis by our scientists.
    • Our laboratory can test up to 24 genetic locations in unusual genetic situations, such as when testing closely related alleged fathers or when mutations are observed.
  4. The products from PCR are analyzed to determine each allele’s size.
    • The child’s allele sizes are inherited from the mother and father.
    • The paternity index calculation for each allele depends on the allele sizes present.
  5. The raw data from the two teams are compared to verify if they match.
  6. Statistical analysis is performed to calculate the combined paternity index.
    • One of our PhDs examines the allele sizes from step 3 and calculates the paternity indexes using special software.
    • Our laboratory uses the largest database in the industry, giving the most accurate and conclusive paternity testing results.

Sample Collection procedure for DNA Test

Step 1: Label the paternity test sample collection envelopes.

Take out the envelope marked with the title of the first person to be collected (for example, “Alleged Father” or “Child”).

Fill out the envelope with the information about that tested party. Be sure to provide all the information requested on the sample collection envelope.

Step 2: Collect cheek cells using the swabs provided, and place the used swabs in the paper envelopes.

Eastern Biotech supplies a packet of 2 swabs for each person to be tested: 1 swabs should be used on the person’s left cheek, and 1 swabs should be used on the right cheek.

Follow these steps when swabbing each tested party:

  • Open the swab packet at the end opposite from the swabs’.
  • Remove one swab from the packet. Be careful not to touch the end of Brush.
  • Insert the swab into the person’s mouth, and rub it briskly against the inside of one cheek for 5-10 strokes. Rotate the swab while rubbing it back and forth and up and down. Do not rub the same spot over and over.
  • Place the used swab back into paper envelop.
  • Repeat the collection process with the remaining 1 swab.
  • When all 2 swabs have been collected and placed in the sample collection envelope, seal the envelope.

Step 3: Mail all the samples back to the lab or test center.

After all the tested parties have been collected, put their sample collection envelopes back in the bigger envelop.

Next, complete and sign the Client Information Form. This form is where you indicate how you would like to pay for the test and receive your results.

Place the kit and the Client Information Form inside the Reply envelope. Seal the envelope securely, and drop it in the mail.
